nano tech 2010 show report (PDF)
The 9th annual gnano tech International Nanotechnology Exhibition and Conference 2010h was held as the worldfs largest nanotechnology event. It highlighted cutting-edge advances in nanotechnology and related products from the global market.

nano tech 2010 continuously focused on environmental nanotechnology under the theme of gGreen Nanotechnology - Sustainability with every nano meterh. Nanotechnology is believed to serve as a fundamental technology to meet the demands for reducing global environmental impact and CO2 emissions.
In 2010, the event drew attention from the visitors for presenting a wide range of environmental technologies such as next generation secondary batteries for automotive applications, LED, smart grid based new energy technology, and soil/water purification systems.

Also related to the environment field and influenced by raised concerns about safe water supply at a global level, we launched Japanfs first water related international exhibition, gInterAqua - International Water Solution Exhibitionh. Staging Inter Aqua concurrently with nano tech created great chances for business matching, since nanotechnology provides also various solutions for water treatment.

Along with environmental related technologies and products, nano tech helped matching the technology- gseedsh in the research and development field - with the market needs.
By this means, the fair contributed to the increase of business interactions.

nano tech 2010 was hosted concurrently with five other exhibitions: Nano Bio 2010, nano&neo functional material 2010, ASTEC2010, METECf10, and the above mentioned InterAqua - International Water Solution Exhibition.

nano tech Award 2010
¡Objective  :  From among exhibits, novel and pioneering forms of technology will be selected by category, with relevant exhibitors commended.
These prizes, awarded to firms, organizations, universities, etc. making significant contributions to industrial promotion, aim to spur the advancement of nanotechnology by clarifying its seeds and needs.
¡Notice of result  :  Prizewinners will be notified by the secretariat during the exhibition and awards presented on last day of the exhibition at the main theater.
¡Prizes  :  (1) Nanotech Award(2) Award by category (Materials, IT & Electronics, Energy, Biotechnology, Nano-fabrication technology, Evaluation & Measurement, Green Nanotechnology)

nano tech Award winners
The ninth nano tech Award Ceremony was held on the last day of the event, February 19 (Fri.). AGrand Award and Awards in eight categories were presented. Every year members of the nanotech executive committee choose the most original and advanced technologies or mostoutstanding exhibitor, and present the nano tech Awards to the winners. The 2010 winners of thenano tech Awards and the reasons for their selection are as follows:
GRAND AWARD
nano tech Grand Award Winner: Gunze Limited
Capitalizing on its comprehensive capacity as a materials manufacturer, Gunze Limited exhibitedsome groundbreaking products and was able to highlight dynamically the applications and gexitshfor nanotechnology. These products include anti-finger mark films, multi-functional films like forcolor compensation, SiC composite materials with high degree of hardness and resilience tofracturing; and advanced function undergarments featuring nanofibers.
- Category Awards
Materials
National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS)
NIMS has made tremendous progress in the development of the most advanced materials for highperformance and function in all manner of devices used from home appliances to cell phones, upto automobiles and aircrafts. NIMS is engaged in activities to promote to a broad audience theimportance of highly advanced materials, highlighting the uses for such technologies asthermoelectric generation and high-temperature super conduction. In addition, in combinationwith its search for new materials and materials development, NIMS is also engaged in efforts tonurture the next generation of researchers.
Biotechnology
Kobe Medical Industry City Project
The City of Kobe has gathered a total of 163 organizations, including corporations and universitiesin an effort to nurture a cutting-edge medical industry. As part of this effort, it has been decidedto install a next-generation super computer in a new established research facility forcomputational science that will be useful for medical applications. This initiative aims not only torevive the local economy in Kobe, but also to represent Japan in nurturing a world-class,cutting-edge medical industry.
Nano-fabrication Technology
Elionix Co., Ltd.
Through the realization of a 125kV high acceleration voltage, Elionix Co., Ltd., has been able tocreate a ground-breaking ultra-high precision electron beam lithography system, which hasreduced the minimum diameter of the smallest electron beam from 5nm to 1.7nm, and broughtdown minimum line width from 10nm to 5nm.
Evaluation and Measurement
Nikkiso Co., Ltd.
The laser diffraction and light scattering particle analyzer BlueRaytrac responds to R&D andquality control needs in the nanotechnology sector. It features three BlueRay lasers and hasgreatly improved resolution capabilities in the nano and sub-micron fields.
Green Nanotechnology
Toray Industries Inc.
Toray Industries has been instrumental in establishing truly innovative technologies thatcontribute to the field of green nanotechnology. These achievements include development of highperformance reverse osmosis membranes for desalination and effluent processing, weightreduction and improvement of fuel efficiency through the development of carbon fiber compositematerials, and energy conservation through the development of unique heat insulation sheets(wall materials).
Application
Chakyu Dyeing Co., Ltd. / Kurarayliving Co., Ltd. / Matsubun Textile Co., Ltd.
These three companies have developed a heating element using carbon nanotubes, and used thistechnology to test a snow-melting mat for use in cold regions. The product exhibited by this trioof companies is a ready-for-market product that uses large quantities of nanotubes and as such, the exhibit of the sample product provided an inspiration for the development of other appliedproducts.
NOF Corporation
NOF Corporation has developed a groundbreaking nano-particle dispersion fluid, which byreducing bleed-out thanks to the inclusion of a functional polymer, enables dispersionstabilization without changing the properties of metallic oxide nano-particles.
Special Award
Flanders Investment & Trade, Belgium
Flanders Investment and Trade played a coordinating role in bringing together four organizationsthat are engaged in research into advanced nanotechnologies. The four organizations togethercovered a broad range of fields, including MEMS, bio and materials. Moreover, the grouping isengaging actively in exchange with Japan as well as advancing research that will lead to thecreation of new industries.
- Winner of the NIKKAN KOGYO SHIMBUN Award
Nanotec Corporation
